Blackbird Singing in the Dead of Night

Happy Memorial Day everyone!🎉🎉
Last week my boyfriend John decided to make his famous she crab soup, which strictly calls for fresh seafood. While we were both out running errands I got a phone call from him raving about this market up the street from us that served lunch and had fresh local seafood. So of course I decided to meet him there and lo and behold.....
Blackbird Market.
If you have not yet tried the Blackbird Market on Johns Island you are seriously missing out! I still cannot believe I drove past it everyday to work for over year and never stopped in until now! With local seafood🍤, homemade desserts🍰, fresh produce🍉, and local products🌴 I am currently obsessed 😨
We were both mesmerized by the fresh abundance of local seafood I swear we probably left with 3 pounds of shrimp at the end of the trip. And these weren't small teenie tiny pigmey shrimp either these were probably the size of my finger.

At the entrance was one of my favorite spots where they had fresh eggs🐣, homemade fixins🍴, and desserts including lemon bars🍋, banana pudding🍌 and hold the phone📞. .. .
TOLLHOUSE PIE?!??!🐷🐷
What about that luscious tomato pie🍅🍅 with pimento cheese on top I mean can it really get any better than that?
They even had a frozen section where they had homemade raviolis including Lobster truffle yeah that's right I said it Lobster truffle. . . Grab some elastic pan👖ts on the way home yall because it's going down!
I was starting to fog up the glass at the ravioli section so I decided to waltz over to the produce section you know to seem a bit healthy😉 showcasing their vast abundance of fresh vegetables fruits, chocolate covered nuts, and homemade granola.
Just when I thought it could get any better I found a section of Southern Staples. I'm serious yall some of the stuff I found I haven't seen since I left my home of Dillon, South Carolina. Yellow geechie boy grits, spicy Blenheim Ginger Ale🍺, and 🐝Wild Honey🍯 took me right back :)

At the checkout counter is an awesome section of local products that are made right here in Charleston South Carolina .
has several varieties of seasoning salt selections for you to use at home for all your cooking needs.

has an amazing handmade selection of candles, lotions, body scrubs, and soaps. They even have a full selection of Charleston inspired scents including Shag, Southern Sweet Tea, Caramelized Pralines, and my personal favorite, Charleston Black Tie, which are manly blend of peppercorn and leather.

Happy Monday Everybody !!!
Usually my Sunday Funday entails brunch 🍳and the dog park🐶. But this Sunday was a total treat!!
I got a Facebook invite from my friend, Eva for a really cool clothing swap👗👖. And I have to say it was a blast

The Basic Jist
1. Find up to 8 items from your closet
2. Make sure they are in good condition
3. The staff sorts through your items and gives you a number for how many items you can pick to take home in exchange.
4. Ready. Set. SHOP!

The set up for the clothing swap was at this awesome art gallery🎨, Fabulon. They were kind enough to even have refreshments for us because shopping can work up quite a thirst🍹 and an appetite🍩.
I was very pleased with the selection they had to offer everyone seem to have a great time. My roommate Victoria even found some awesome tops and shoes. We were secretly hoping that there would be a full girls fight brawl over a blouse or a dress but it was a very civilized shopping experience 😊

Drum roll please . . . .

My Treasures 😍💚💎
Needless to say I'm really proud of all the awesome items 👜👛👡👖👕👗that I found. I've already fashioned a few outfits out of all the items I found and can't wait to do another one in the near future. Seriously this would make an awesome girls night in and no one would have to spend a penny :-)

Poppin Bottles

As most of you know  I  am  a big trivia fan, including wacky holidays.  So each day if I have enough time to remember I like to Google what what holiday it is  and yesterday was
 🐀🎒National Pack Rat Day!!!🎒🐀
When I got off work I decided to clean out some stuff out of my craft closet. . . . hopefully in the future I will have a nice little workshop. Anywho, I found some old empty liquor bottles from when I used to bartend. I used to save patron bottles the most because of their unique shape you can use them for SO many projects.
I decided to do two, count em TWO different projects in the blog today.
*Make sure to wash out both bottles before crafting*

For the Patron bottle I decided to wash and peel off the labels and stickers. And make it into a Bubble Bath container. Just pour your favorite bubble bath in the bottle, my favorite is Mr. Bubble :-) now you can use the cork stopper that comes with the Patron bottle but I use a wine stopper I had instead. I got mine from Francesca's a few years ago but there is a link below for one similar at Amazon.

Black and White Hatbox 👒 $3 Dollar General
#SHAPE MATTERS PALETTE 💋 $55 Smashbox
Chanel Chance Perfume $124 Chanel
2oz Serenitea Candle🌼 $7.49 Soy Delicious
Body Concepts Pineapple🍍 Makeup Remover Towelettes
$3.99  Marshall's

Now for the Jack Daniel's botte, I decided to Fashion it into a soap pump bottle for my bathroom but it can be used in the kitchen as well. Try and find a large pump for the bottle preferably from a large shampoo bottle. I got mine from Starbucks while I was waiting for my matcha tea I noticed the syrup bottles thought why not ask the checkout girl and she just smiled and gave me one.

So the pump does not screw onto the bottle so what you're going to do is take the Jack Daniel's cap off the top of the bottle and drill a hole in it right in the middle enough for the pump to fit through.
I used my electric drill and it worked perfect. Once you are able to fit the bottom of the pump through the hole just hot glue it to the pump and it will screw right on to the bottle.
After that just for your favorite hand soap or dishwashing liquid into the bottle, I used my favorite Dawn Pomegranate Hand Renewal Soap $3.97 which is BOTH!
🍍Pineapple Tea Towels🍍
$12.95 each Cotton and Birch Co

💎Jewel Box $2.50 and Jewelry Plate💎
(gift from my home girl Dina👑) from Marshall's

Sprinkled Cupcake Candle $3 from Target🎯

Keep Calm and Sparkle On

Hey yall so I have always been a huge fan of anything glittery or sparkly , I mean who isn't.  So  a few months ago I saw on Pinterest a few posts that were popping up for sequin hangers. . . . I was instantly in love💕💕
I started searching a few websites including Etsy and saw what was being charged for them💰💰 so I decided why not try and make it myself💡✂.

What You Will Need

Hot glue gun
Hot glue sticks
Wooden hangers . . .

No wire hangers don't make me go Joan Crawford on you

Most of the items I use I already had at home but for the sequin trim I lucked out at Michaels Craft Store and got 2 yards for less than $2😄😄 just make sure you always check the clearance section before you go to check out, you never know the treasures you may find!💎💎🌟🌟

1. Squirt hot glue at the center of the hanger at the top and press firmly.
⚠Be cautious not to burn your fingerprints off⚠ unless you're on the run from the law when you are changing your identity . . .😊☝

My Dream Curtains

Hey guys! So I have been OBSESSED, I repeat OBSESSED with the whole black and white striped concept for my bedroom. Like Fatal Attraction🔪🛁, Glenn Close chasing after Michael Douglas, bunny rabbit🐇 in the pot obsessed anarchy !
I Shall Not Rest till I get those curtains

Now that I have your attention :)
After searching for months for the perfect set of black and white striped curtains I honestly could not find any in my price range. I considered even trying to sew or make my own but honestly sewing is not my strong suit
However. . . spray painting is :-)
So that's right, I decided to spray paint my curtains!!😅😅
Stay tuned, because honestly the spray painting was a flop but I was able to make what I wanted.

Supplies You Will Need
Set of white curtains
2 Tins of Black Satin Paint
Mini paint roller
Duct Tape

First off I decided to search for plain white curtains and where else can you find cheap and nice plain white curtains none other than Ikea :-) I found these Below on eBay but here's a picture and a link for the originals from Ikea.

Put Some New Shoes On and Suddenly Everything's Alright

So. . . I was I told at work today that my snazzy Leopard loafers that I have been sporting over a year are prohibited against the dress code😢😢. . .
Just call me a rebel.
When I asked what would be appropriate they just said, " As long as they are black it's fine.".
After that I decided to Google some snazzy black slip on and came across this AMAZING pair that I just was not willing to spend that much on, so of course I decided to make them myself 😊
Nine West Bluechip Satin Slip-on Sneakers SOLD OUT

I went to the closest Walmart, which let me be honest . . .. I hate going to Walmart. Now don't get me wrong I love Walmart and they have such great deals but everytime I go I have to give myself a pep talk.
" you can do this youre a strong woman,  just keep your head down get in as fast as you can and get out as fast as you can. . . BREAK!"
My Bountiful Loot
Sorry guys the black out contraband consisted of ice cream and batteries. . . So only really spent $18 for this project

1. Hot Glue Gun🔥⚠
I swear I think I have maybe ten of them around the apartment. . #addict
2. Canvas shoes👞
I lucked out and these were the last ones and on sale for only $2 I mean you can't beat that.
3. Craft Jewels💎💎
I have to admit these were the most expensive part but they were so worth it and I definitely needed 4 packs.
Instructions
1. Get that hot glue gun going.
2. Apply hot glue to gem and press into the shoe fabric. If you want to be safe and see if you have enough stones you can figure out beforehand on jewel placement.  . .I just winged and honestly had JUST enough for the shoes.
3. Set aside and let dry.

Finished Product
Super stoked with the end results!!!  And spent under $20 on them! I may have to make a matching pair in white. . . Hmmmmmm

Welcome to Crafting a Charmed Life, this has definitely been a long time coming. So I began crafting for as long as I can remember but the past 4 years everyone close to me has encouraged me to start a blog.
I'm hoping to post projects at least once a week and that this can be a fun site for people who are on a budget and wanna spend time rather than money on something you probably have the capability to do yourself and save a few pennies!
