Haint Blue Bar Stools

So I have been dying to do something with these chairs.
They were actually from a friend of a friend and were used for outdoor chairs for a bar top table. But John and I realized they go better inside at our kitchen island.
With so many different pops of color in our apartment I was indecisive about what color to paint the stools.  . . but finally made a decision.

I LOVE this color becauase it reminds me of a nice haint blue. Notorious for usage here in the Lowcountry, haint blue is believed to protect a home from evil spirits (AKA haints). Typically painted on porch ceilings, the blue symbolizes water which spirits are unable to cross. I know whenever we buy our first home I will definitely have to continue this custom. But since we are currently in an apartment and can't paint every porch ceiling above us. . . bar stools it is!

2 Bar Stools
Spray Paint
Gloss Spray Paint
Electric Drill
1. First, I unscrewed the seats using my electric drill.
*Once I find the perfect fabric I will recover the seats*

2. I made sure I had my "spray-paint station" setup.
I typically use cardboard boxes from packages received.

3. Start Spraying!
Always make sure you are standing upwind when spray painting. . . I cannot stress this enough.
I used about 3 coats and then finished off with a nice gloss spray.

Taco Tuesday Bike Crate

๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿผ๐ŸŒฎHappy Taco Tuesday!!๐ŸŒฎ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿผ

One of my favorite things about Charleston is there are ENDLESS options for Taco Tuesday ๐ŸŒฎ AND that we are very bicycle friendly ๐Ÿšฒ
So I decided to recreate this cool bike crate with supplies I already had on hand.

wooden crate
foam paint brush
letter decals

Step 1: Paint the entire crate with 2-3 coats of paint and let dry.

Step 2: Once the crate is dry pull out your handy dandy measuring tape to figure out even placement of your decals. Once you figure that out, stick on the letters and spray with clear spray paint to set and that's it!!

So I didn't have the black stick on letters I wanted; just white and gold. SO I went the long route instead because I was too lazy to battle traffic on the bridge. ๐Ÿ˜
If you don't have the color letters you like just use the sticky background and then use a foam paint brush to paint the letters on.

I put my crate out on our patio for a pop of color, plus it holds all of our plants.
If you DO decide to use this for your bicycle; make sure that it's the right size and not too heavy or large!!!

Floral Ice Bucket

Well guys we have officially made it to July!
Smack dab in the middle of this heat wave.
I swear, this heat and humidity is gonna get the best of me;
So I decided to do a post that is appealing to the eye AND something that would cool me off๐Ÿ˜Ž
While this project may cost you a bit of time, it is Dollar Tree friendly!
I really wanted to use real flowers but honestly no one could tell the difference and it was much cheaper!

2 PLASTIC buckets
(one large and one small that can fit in the large)
Fake Flowers ๐ŸŒบ
Scissors ✂️
Water ๐Ÿ’ฆ

⚠️make sure to measure the height of your freezer so you'll know the buckets will fit, and only use plastic⚠️

Step 1: Fill the large bucket with about 3 inches of water and freeze.

Step 2: Place the smaller bucket (mine was a sand bucket and worked perfectly)in the large bucket. Next, I TOTALLY forgot to buy rocks to weigh down the small bucket, 2 small ramekins worked though from my kitchen. The water will float if you don't weigh it down.

Step 3: Pour water in the space between the two buckets, about 3 or 4 inches and start to tuck flowers down in the water. Freeze. Repeat once more and freeze overnight

Step 4: To remove your ice creation, remove rocks (or whatever you used ๐Ÿ˜) run warm water down the small bucket and it should pop out. Then, run warm water around the bottom of the large bucket and it will pop out!

✨When serving, make sure to place it on a tray or washcloth to absorb the water, I used the bottom of my Beverage dispenser (you know, where you keep ice to keep the water cool) and put ice in it and it worked like a charm!!!!✨

๐Ÿฅ’๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‹Also, add fruit to jazz it up!๐Ÿ“๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‰
